Planning for your financial future isn’t always easy or straightforward, in part because there are a number of financial products currently available to the investor. Which ones you choose will depend on a variety of factors, including the amount you wish to invest, when you are likely to want to access your money and, ultimately, what your final goals are. The team at Scott Fyffe Wealth Management can talk you through all the options that are open to you, offering much-needed advice and guidance along the way. There are times when specialist input from experienced professionals can be crucial.
An Individual Savings Account (ISA) represents a good option. It’s tax-free, it can include cash and/or stocks and shares investments, and it can be flexible in terms of withdrawals. If you currently have up to £20,000 in the bank and you’d like to invest it elsewhere, an ISA could be a tempting proposition. There are four adult ISA options on the market: Cash, Investment, innovative Finance and Lifetime. It’s worth noting that you can have an investment ISA from one provider and a cash ISA with another in any given tax year. The limit for investments at the moment is £20,000 across the board, with a maximum of £4,000 for lifetime ISAs. Junior ISAs have an annual limit of £9,000. As always, we can fill you in all the details should you wish to take such an option.
Ethical investments have become increasingly important to many of our clients, and this is a development that we’ve always been happy to embrace. There are a number of initiatives that you might want to support through your investment, including greener energy sources, responsible forestry, non-intensive farming, organic crops, sustainable water projects, plus commitments to community relations, human rights, health and safety and fair trade manufacturing. If you’d like to find out more about using your money in a more positive way, our team are ready and waiting to speak with you.
Needless to say, there will often be more negative organisations that you might want to avoid at all costs. Ethical investors will commonly ask that their money doesn’t encourage gambling, smoking or the supply of arms. Companies that pollute, that have an over-reliance on fossil fuels, that do little or nothing for local communities or that pay exorbitant salaries to executives are likely to come under this umbrella.
Scott Fyffe Wealth Management can talk you through a range of investment planning options that offer varying degrees of risk and reward, clearly explaining the pros and cons of each of them. Every one of our clients is an individual, and as such will have benefitted from our bespoke approach to their specific circumstances. The investments that best suit you will depend on various factors, including perhaps whether you’re saving to buy a home, investing in preparation for a future retirement, looking to build an emergency fund or putting money away to help with university fees for yourself or members of your family.
